iPhone-iPhoto retrieval issue
August 7th, 2007 by Dylan
I seem to be having the same issue as outlined in this Apple iPhone thread – I no longer seem to be able to sync photos back from the iPhone to iPhoto. Has anyone else seen this issue, and more importantly, is there a known fix?
Update: if you iPhone is locked with a passcode, you can’t sync photos except on a reboot of your Mac. If you enter your passcode, you can transfer photos from your iPhone again.
The issue is with iPhoto 8. My iphone sync fine with iPhoto 7, once again Apple put out an update without thinking! Quick, Quick, Quick… There is no fix yet as of 8/12/07
how do i sync photos from my IPHONE to iphoto on my mac. i tried everything. it synced before , now it doesnt even launch iphoto so i can import the pictures ive taken with my iphone. i unlocked it, restarted computer, evrything i could possible read about but still doesnt work. i have a powerbook g4 , os x 10.4,iphoto 6.o6 and itunes 7.4.1
please help with this, i dont want to lose the pictures on my iphone.
I’ve found that some combo of opening iPhoto, having the phone unlocked, and disconnecting/reconnecting the iPhone usually gets things working for me.
If that still doesn’t work, there are a collection of hacks you can use to get files off of your iPhone (photos are just files stored on your iPhone after all), but it is not for the faint of heart: http://www.sitepen.com/blog/2007/09/04/the-iphone-screenshot-quest/
Another option is to email the pictures to yourself (note that the quality is sometimes reduced, but there is a hack that sends the full resolution images if you follow the first few steps of the link above to get Installer.app working), and then take the iPhone to the “genius” bar and have Apple get it to work. Not an ideal solution, but if none of the above is working, it’s time to get it fixed before you take any more pictures.
